'jessies girl' how do they get that ringing 'B' note in chorus?.....

In the song Jessies girl by Rick Springfield, i hear a ringing B note in the A-B part just after the lyrics..."you know i wish that i had jessies girl", then these that little riff. Its in that riff. You also hear it later on after the droning G bridge part. But it changes key to B and you now hear a F# ringing throughout.
I assume its an alternate tuning or capo?

Anyone know?
Thanx
- Robert

I play a bar chord A (5th fret), down to the D, back to the A and slide it up the B. On the B, I play a normal blues hammeron. "you know i wish that i had jessies girl"
On the F# part....I play it F#, down to B, up to a C# major without the pinky down. (not sure the name of the actual chord). I can probably explain this better if I had more time.

This is not a song by SRV, or Hendrix......I'm thinking someone will report the OP for violating some rule....right??

I always liked that song. Damn. Now I'm gonna get banned, too.

Sometimes it does seem a crime to enjoy a simple pop tune. :bender

I know which part you're talking about but I've never tried to figure it out since I'm the only guitar on that song. I just play the chords.

Love Neil Giraldo's solo on that tune.

Dig up the video on YT.
I play it in the open position and you can let the open B ring when going between the B and A.

I always just thought it was a second guitar playing a single line. I remember seeing concert footage years ago (who was the guy playing guitar in that band? killer player) and it sounded different.

Well, Mr Benatar (Neil Geraldo) did the studio work and played bass, I'm not sure if he played live with them...i'm thinking not. Him not being there would certainly account for it sounding different in any live footage you saw.

The guitar solo on that was Neil Geraldo (Pat Benatar's hubby and un-freaking-believably cool guitarist).
