Ibanez RC99 Rotary Chorus
Is it really all that? I'm not really into the whole, spaceship-y warbling rotary sound thing, but love a rich, analog chorus. I've got the FL99 Classic Flange and wondered if this is on par with that in terms of sound quality.
Does the RC99 do that all that well, or is it a 'unique sound' (but not classic)? I've got the 'Univibe' sound satisfied with my Easyvibe, so I'm not looking for another one. How does it compare to a vintage CS9? (I had one once and it's the best chorus I've ever owned) |

I agree, the FL99 is an awesome flanger. Had two that sounded great. So I tried the RC99 thinking it would be just as good. Every one I tried had a very pronounced clock hiss/thump that I couldn't abide by.

Ahhhhhhhh.....good to know.
I'll admit, I could hear a bit of clock noise in my old CS9 if I listened closely at the pick attack (like a very subtle noise gate), but the sound of the chorus was so good that I got used to it. It was very faint, though. Not to hijack my own thread, but over the years I've had the classic four-knob MXR Flanger, Boss Hi-Band Flanger (which was actually VERY cool, but couldn't get used to the tone-suck in the bypass), an early-90's DOD Flanger, an Ibanez FL-301DX (which I also loved) and a Maxon FL-301 reissue. The FL99 beats them all in overall sound/versatility. The 'filter' mode gets really close to Eric Johnson's 'High Landrons' sound. |

I love the Ibanez-99 Series.
Had them all at one point. It has been awhile, but if you can find one, I would still pick up and try the RC99. Had a real distinguishable tone to it.
