What to do with a Fuzz Factory...

This thing is on and off my board a couple times a day. I just can't bond with it. I find that their is just too much gain and high end to be useable. I'd really like it to be a fat bottom version of itself, but can't seem to dial it in. So.
Any suggestions?
Anyone else have this problem?
Should I just scrap it and stick with other fuzzes I know and love?
What do you use it for?

I love mine. But it might not be the fuzz for you.

Check out this thread. It has suggestions on how to dial it in, if you haven't seen this.

Any idea where to find it? I've done some googling and don't see it.

try putting a TS style pedal after the fuzz factory. it'll totally mellow out the highs and compress the fuzz into a thick warm sound (very EJ-esque). roll of your volume to 8 for a crispy slightly dirty tone, and full one fuzz magic is just a finger roll away.

Mine isn't ever really on my board, but I go to it a lot for recording. Lots of cool wacky sounds available to add textures to overdubs.

to me it sounds like you should just move on.

I think life is too short to waste time on gear that doesn't inspire.

Most of us, after spending a bunch of money on something, no matter how underwhelming it really is, we will try to convince ourselves that it's really great, maybe to justify spending X amount of dollars on it. I've done it.

You tried it, and you didn't bond with it.

Flip it and get something else, I don't think mods or rolling your volume back are gonna do the trick.

I've tried the Fuzz Factory in the store many times, but never went home with it. (salesmen must love me, right?) But seriously, I think it does some really neat sounds, and I'm kinda nostalgic about them because they were one of the first boutique fuzzes I remember being availbale back n the mid 90s. Still, I don't own one yet...

If you have a pp2+ use the sag function at it's lowest voltage.

My advice is to try two things...

1 Set the Fuzz Factory with the drive and gate to 2 o clock and the comp and stab to minimum. This should be quite dull sounding. Increase the stab to taste.

2 Try a Big Muff.

trade it for a useable fuzz, like a skreddy

seriously tho, the fuzz factory is kinda hard to use, UNLESS you want to use it as an EFFECT, a special effect.

i always had more fun using it to process audio loops and destroy drom tracks, anything BUT guitar.

i can only remember ONE nite that i actually liked using it onstage, for a hendrix tune.

the octane 1, on the other hand, was pure awesome, AM radio signals and all. i loved that pedal.

I didn't like my Fuzz Factory much at all. Despite all the knobs and tweakability, I only found one usable sound for what I do. It's a great pedal, but I guess I'm more into the more traditional muff style pedals.

I had a similar experience. I have bought and sold a Fuzz Factory 3 different times. Two hand-painted and one Vexter. They are cool, but I always end up using some Muff variant instead because of the brightness and lack of low end. Try a Hoof for some big, useable fuzz.
