You know with all the money spent by Reginald and all the problems being experienced by most of you, do you not think we'd all be better served by purchasing a better amp to begin with?
It makes no sense to buy a new reasonably priced amp and then immediately swap speakers and tubes, unless of course you're into it for the tinkering. Otherwise why not just by the amp that comes with what you want? And then of course there's the latest Bandit with none, I repeat, none of all those problems you are having, with more features for less money. I do have the Bandit and I do miss that " tube voice " and I am researching the DB 1 X 15 which does get rave reviews all around but after reading all of Reginald's travails I have begun to question the overall tube experience. The again there's the fender Blues Deluxe Reissue which apparently comes with its own unique set of problems.!!!

I have friends that have spent small fortunes on "Boutique" Amps only to swap out the tubes and the speaker to find the tone they are looking for.

As far as my experiences with the DB115 goes:
I bought mine used for $350. The first thing I did to it was swap out the Sovtek power tubes for jj's. That turned out to be a mistake the jj's were very microphonic. Not a big problem though as after a couple of Months they lost all their tone anyway. I swapped them out for a matched Quad of TAD's. Finally a tone that I liked and no microphonics. Next mod was the preamp tubes. V1 got a NOS RCA 5751 V2 and V3 were swapped for NOS JAN Phillips 12ax7's. The preamp tube swap really opened the DB up. My last and final change was the speaker. I was lucky enough to come across an EV SRO 15L "coffee can". Tone Heaven. Total cost of the mods were $175 making a total investment of $525. I would put this DB up against any boutique amp costing 4x's it's price.

delta blues 8 ohms

The Delta blues claims to be able to run 16 or 8 ohms. You can switch the amp into 8 ohms mode( if you want to wire up an extension cab and bypass the 15" inch in the amp") by takin the wires of the 15" speaker and wiring them to the extension cab. Plug a 1/4 inch plug( just a plug with out wires connected) into the extenion speaker out put. Bada Bing! I have done this and it works perfect. I plan on taking the guts out of my delta blues and making a head out of it or maybe both of my deltas and running them both thru 2x12 cabs. celestion 25watt vintage(really vintage ,like made in the 70's) speakers sound fantastic for anything you want to play. stick with JJ tubes they make a huge difference in the tone of the amp, as well as the tightness of the crunch. I have a jmp 50watt master volume, manufactured in 1976. The only mod that has been done is I change\ed the old version 2204 circuit to the newer version, essentially making it a JCM 800. using el34's it sounds fantastic. The overall tone is better than the delta , but not enough to make it worth taking this mint head outta my house laso the delta has alot more gain which I need to use ocassionally. So in conclusion, the delta is a GREAT amp. cya
