Why can't gibson make a LP standard with a bigsby

Ok, I'm just ranting, I used to have a LP with a bigsby years ago, loved it, sold it to buy an amp and have been looking for a replacement for years. Now I know they made a few lately like the gold 295 and the new Florentine model but it's not the same. Why can't they just make a plain Jane LP standard, not just a custom shop model with a bigsby stock. You would think it would sell pretty well (maybe not in this economy but....)

Ok, just me ranting, talk amongst yourselves

Most definitely because they is very little demand for it.

And that LP-295 you are referring to had a bunch of reported tuning issues.

Currently I have 2 guitars with bigsby's and as long as they are set up correctly, mostly a good nut job.

But I still think the demand would be high enought to warrant a bigsby on a standard, especially if they released 2 guitars within the last year like that

Just find the LP you want and add a Bigsby.

And that's the route I'll probably end up taking but I don't want to buy a new LP and start drilling into the top, that's why I'm still looking for a resonably priced used one, preferably a LP standard faded.

Alternatively, you could buy an Edward's or Tokai, and set one up that way. Great guitars and you'll feel less 'dirty' drilling into an $900 guitar as opposed to the $2000 guitar...

Or use that Vibramate thing, where the plate screws right into the tailpiece studs, and the Bigsby screws into that. Reversible wanging a screw away.

Because Gibson is a close minded company that refuses to listen to its customers and instead gets advice from rich tycoons who spend their days on golf courses instead of driving around in vans, broke, living for music?

I'm somewhat kidding of course (somewhat) but yeah, I'm sure its just about demand. We'd all love to see more models with P90s but then again, if there were that many, we'd probably not like them as much.

You might check out the new Carvins with Bigsbys. I had a chance to play one not long ago and it was out of this world. I owned a Carvin several years back that was ok, but those new ones are top notch!

When I was a kid working in the music store (1970's) I used to have to restring and setup countless guitars with that POS bigsby. It was a major PIA. Hope to never see one of those again.

I've always thought of Gretch's as more of Bigsby guitars, not LP's.

Why would they? They know they can make a CS model and most of the people want a LP with a bigsby will buy that one at more $$$.

I just don't think this is good business. I mean I can buy a Gretsch duo jet with a bigsby for basically a little more then one without it and it's not a custom shop. Just my $.02
