Hopefully you will find some means to discourage others from dealing with this guy. Nobody wants to deal with anybody proven they cannot be trusted.

This thread and other similar ones on TGP are why I will never ship out an amp for repair, I would rather drive 4 hours and meet the person face to face if need be.

That is very lucky for the builder. Eight months is crazy.

I'd have to fly 4 hrs. to see him.

Dean Zink lives around the corner from me...The only reason i didn't take it to Dean, is the amp is a somewhat specialized travel amp...lesson learned.

Damn. Almost 30 days to the day from when he had it in his "loving hands" ready to ship. So now it's 9 months, or 3/4 of a year. Let us know if you have to pay any COD charges.

They should, unless they claim they drove by and no one was home. My local UPS and Fedex don't even knock when I'm home. They drop it on the front porch and sprint back to their trucks.

So he fixed the amp at no charge?

Damn, I'm glad you didn't mention his name. Sounds like his heart was in the right place, even if it took forever to find it there.

Everyone goes through family and health (and family health) issues that can sometimes be distracting, and if this is the case with this builder, I wish him the very best in getting through it.

Personally, I would have found a way to get the amp back to you sooner though. Maybe a short email explaning his situation and recommending a good tech in your area for now, with an invite to give him another chance to take care of you once the storm blows over. Honesty is usually the best policy.

But this is all hindsight, and I have no way of walking in his shoes without walking in his specific shoes.

Congrats on a happy ending.

Now you're going to have to post some clips of the repaired/reborn amp!

Clips! Clips! Clips!

Almost 9 months? What kind of work was done to it?

Glad it made it back safely, but that guy clearly doesn't cater to gigging musicians, who can't be without their #1 gear for more than a few weeks.

Glad it finally worked out for you.
Curious what work was done?
Cool that you didn't get charged for the work and shipping.
Even though a 9 month wait.....

Yes, it was free.

He quoted $25, which I would have gladly paid...especially if I had the amp months ago and diidn't have to spend time calling and emailing him.
