Please tell me about the Rickenbacker 660/6
I'm considering trading my 2001 R6 and part of the return would be a recent Jetglo 660/6 in great condition. I'm pretty ignorant about these particular Ric models so I'd love to hear from people in the know...especially the stuff that I can't easily get from googling. Thanks!

The 660 is a great guitar and it has the wider neck, for those who have big hands. I would go for it. Does it have the toaster pickups or hi-gains? The 660 is a deluxe model from the 620. Checker board binding, crush pearl inlays on the frets and the wider neck. Tom Petty has a signature 660/12 from Rick and he does play that one on stage and in the studio. I hope this helps you on your choice. Everyone should have a Rick or two in their guitar collection.

They haven't been crushed pearl inlays for YEARS now.

I had one for a few years. It was a nice guitar, and it did the jangle thing to a T. The fingerboard had a thick glossy finish on it and the neck was monstrous. There was virtually no taper to the neck, so the nut was quite a handful. I found lead work difficult on it, but it did have a very identifiable sound.

Tom Petty's model has the crushed pearl fret markers and at one time these guitars did have the crushed pearl inlays. I prefer the older models, than the new ones with the full inlays that are not crushed pearl.
