Question about Gibson LP specs

Hi all,

I just got a very good deal on a Gibson LP standard from '98 in cherryburst. The guitar sounds amazing! I noticed that the neck is quite a lot bigger than the neck on my '05 ES-335. Is it possible that this LP has a 50s neck profile? Or did Gibson introduce the 50/60s neck profiles later? I actually prefer the bigger neck, so I'm quite happy .

I think the 90's LP Standards had somewhat of a 50's rounded neck, and the LP Classic model had the 60's slim taper. In 2002, the new LP Standard was available with a 50's or 60's neck. I'm not sure if the actual spec for "50's" or "60's" has changed though.

I may not be completely right... but that's how I understand it...

All the Standards I've owned from the 80's and 90's had pretty good sized necks by todays standards. Since you never really saw many R0's around you didn't really notice it until the classic series came out with their slim taper profile.
