Isis

Last night's ISIS show at the GreatAmericanMusicHall in SF was maybe the best sounding live metal mix I've heard yet. Punchy, clear + sludgy in all the right places, melting and massaging all the tiny faces.

(aluminum guitars and freyette logos abound)

Saying nothing about the music itself, which was transcendentally huge. I even took out my earplugs, at great risk (LOUD), to enjoy the sound the way it was actually being projected.

ISIS is getting better and better. Chk them out sooner than later!

Hi guys,

I don't usually post here at all, but I decided to log in just to chime in on what the OP said as I saw Isis a few months back at the Commodore Ballroom here in Vancouver BC.

Isis is without a doubt the finest live sound mix I've ever heard in my life. We're talking any venue, any genre, any band, ever. I'm not a gray hair but I've seen more than my fair share of shows from big bands in arenas to indie bands in tiny little clubs.

It's hard to get an idea from us typing about it on here just HOW FAR above everything else I've ever heard it was. It's not that it was just better than some of the other shows I've heard, nothing has ever sounded this clear. I had seen shows both at the Commodore and elsewhere before that I thought sounded great, but now I realize that none of them even came close to this.

I realize that they are not from a genre that the majority of the users here go for, but I maintain that anyone interested in amazing sounding live music should see these guys. It is truly an experience that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. 2 minutes into their set I looked across at my friends and everyone was standing with their mouth wide open. It sounded that good.

Cheers!

At first, I thought, WTF...

I thought you were talking about this:

Isis, an all-female band from the 1970's.

ISIS is awesome. I have seen them two summers in a row now. It's quickly becoming a tradition. Great live sonicscapes.

I have never seen Isis live, but I heard Panopticon in a friends car and really dug it. I have that and Mosquito Control....which is pretty amazing.
