Lo Fi Loop Junky - Very Cool

Just got a Lo Fi Loop Junky and I think it is pretty cool.

I'm enjoying laying down some frippish/math rockish extended loops to play over.

Damn this is a cool pedal.

I am wondering why there aren't more simple loopers similar to this being made.

Well it is still the honeymoon phase but i would like to say that at this moment I believe this is the single coolest pedal I have ever owned. Amazing to set up patterns and then play against them. I like the analog sound of it. This is way cooler than the Digitech looper I had, could never get into, and then sold. Sometimes simplicity is paramount.

The things I would most like in an ideal looper pedal would be the ability to speed up and slow down the loops. To do that and not change pitch it would need to be digital and it could possibly lose some of its mojo.

I would also like it to have an effects loop so you could insert an effect to modulate the loop without affecting the dry signal.

I also think it would be very tough to sync this up with a band but laying down a pattern and responding too it works very nicely.

All in all very cool.

What do other people think of this pedal? I don't see it mentioned to often around here. How do you use it?

One of the few pedals left i haven't tried, but really, really want to...

worried about dropping the cash on one, just because in the long run it'll probably get minimal use. I used to do a lot of texture-type sounds in previous bands, but not as much currently....
ahh, the experimental younger days....

cheers

Got this one used for $220 so I didn't pay the new price. Made it an easier decision to make.

Had one for a while, and it is cool. However, I get the same 23 seconds of loop from my Akai Headrush or my M13. And while the lo-fi character is cool, it's not enough of an incentive to make me keep it. Now the Boomerang (4 minutes, 1/2 speed or double speed and reverse), that's indispensible.

I use mine all the time, it's perfect for me. It's so simple, I can't get along with loop pedals that have an adjustable input level knob, it just messes with my tone too much. There is nothing that matches the lo fi analog sound of the loops on this pedal. It also makes your dry tone playing over the loop sound great with a very subtle boost. It's the only looper on my main board, and actually use it a ton for recording, it's a really great way to add some unique textures. Try running some vocals through it!

I am not sure how much use this pedal would have in a band context but for a solo situation, experimentation, practice and recording it is addictive!

I could never get into mine-
even in the honeymoon phase.
I couldn't get the blasted thing
to sync correctly. (Probably user error?)
I did LOVE the vibrato though.
Hmmm... maybe I should do it again.

Which version of the Boomerang do you have?

I had a loop junky for a while and it was really really noisy. The hiss was almost louder than the loop playing back most of the time. Was this normal.

I'm not finding mine to be very noisy at all. A little hiss at higher levels of playback.

Anyone else having problems syncing? Any solutions for this? Practice, practice, maybe?
