My son runs his HSS strat straight into a CC2X most of the time. He's never liked stepping on pedals, prefers the guitar volume knob to control gain.

I do this semi-often, but usually use an external reverb, and a booster or a fuzz.

Whenever I can get loud enough though I like to go straight in, or guitar -> treble booster -> amp.

Its cool, but could use just a smidge more gain with a single coil guitar for my tastes.

I don't have a Vox, but I plug straight into my 57 deluxe & twin! I think plugging straight in is the way to tonal bliss!! Do you plug straight in?

I tend to prefer at least a bit of compression plugging a Fender into an AC30. But I have plugged straight in and it sounds great that way too.

That's a standard AC30 with Top Boost, not a master volume equipped amp.

yah, i do. I often bypass my pedals (I use a loopmaster) and go straight into my AC30 head (with marshall 1960bhw 4X12) with my strat, and love it.

No Strat into an AC30 but, yes - a Strat into a TopHat King Royale which is very
similiar, but .. better !

The other guitarist in our band plugs his Strat right into my AC15 clone. It's a single channel amp with EF86 preamp and Celestion Blue speaker. He turns it up to the point where it's just breaking up a little. Sounds gorgeous!

I would, if I had a Strat and an AC30...

However, I use Rics directly into my AC4 (GASing for an AC30H2 and AC100CPH) but I also use my JangleBox compressor and Glass Nexus on occasion. Once I get my dirt pedals, I may use them too. I would use my Rics direct for the most part into any of these Vox amps (AC30 and AC100) as they have the tones I like as is.
