Big Muff...NYC vs. Russian...what's the difference?

if you're talking about the current black russian...
the russian is darker, smoother, bassier, and the components are pretty crap. it does sound good though. |

That gives a lot of info at the bottom about the component differences between the Muffs. The Russian Muff parts may not be of the same "quality" as the NYC muff, but it's definitely not going to break down on you unless you abuse the heck out of it. |

In a quick few words. The NYC is closer to a nastie harry fuzz, where as the Russian is more like a distortion. But it all depends on the era really.

Jacks, input set up and 9v power jack can be added without much hassle. Hardest part would be drilling through that case for the jack.

input and output jacks wouldn't be that easy. i fixed one for a buddy, and the jacks are pcb mounted, so they are part of the mechanical design.
