Matchless Chieftain and SC30 clips

Here you go, I made some clips of the two amps.

The rhythm was recorded on the 12ax7 channel of the SC30. The SC30 mp3 used the ef86 side for the lead. It was brutally loud probably too loud for normal band play, I would normally play with less volume.

The Chieftain mp3 was just the amp with the reverb turned up about a 1/3, and the master was about 2/3rds with the volume at 1/2.

The SC30 is way louder then the Chieftain in a side by side compariosn. I also think the Chieftain is a touch sweeter right now, maybe it's because it's 10 years older...

Here you go

Amazing how two very different amps still sound like you! I have tried SC 30's before and I always gravitated towards the Chieftain.. I had a sweet 2x10 combo years ago. Loved how no matter how low the volume was it still sounded like the amp was cooking hard. One of the best low volume amps Ive ever used that would get loud as well. I sort of liked it better at lower volumes

I have both-I would be hard pressed to pick and out right winner.they each have their own spot-the only thing better is using them in stereo

The SC30 is a bit crunchier in the highs - I agree the Chieftain is warmer. But it still has that big bottle clean, doesn't it? Thanks for the comparo!

Thanks guys the clips really weren't something I should have done to showcase the amps. I did the clips on the onset of the flu...

Regarding the amps the Chieftain does have more of a full range but the SC30 in a band mix just really has everything you want and nothing you do not require.

I like both a lot and plan on riding these two amps for a long time because over the past 3 or 4 years I've cycled so much stuff through the house it's just borderline mental patient material.

Next time I'll make normal clips that actually show the range of the amps.
