'61 Vox AC-10 non reverb topboost head, is it real?

Hi all, I checked out what's supposedly a '61 ac-10 topboost head, copper panel, no reverb, has vibrato, rear panel topboost controls with the top control being a 3 position click and 4 inputs, 2 for normal, 2 for vibrato.
The only models I see online are the one or two speaker combos and some later heads with reverb or the trapezoid shaped heads.
Looks totally original to me, but was there such a beast?

It might be worth a call to the Plexi Palace guys (or post on their forum). That sounds like it would be an unbelievably cool amp though.

That does sound like a rare bird, indeed .

Anyway you could take a couple of photos, if the seller would allow that ?

Plexi palace or the Vox book by Jim Elya would be the places to check. Post a pic on the plexi board and you can get a quick answer.
There is such a thing as an ac10 head, not sure of the dates of manufacture, and I have seen AC10's with factory added (or non-factory added) topboosts on the back. They did not come with reverb. Great amps, I play an AC10 twin combo regularly. You do REALLY need Elac speakers to make the amp get vox tones, they really don't work that well with other speakers (except perhaps a vintage celestion) no matter what the recent Vintage Guitar article says on the matter.

Thanks, I thought there was a grey panel mid '60's model head with reverb. Called a super or something? This amp doesn't have the matching 2x10 cab. I plugged it in to a 2x12 vox cab and it still sounded amazing to me.

Well, I was wrong, it indeed has reverb, but it's not working. Nice sounding but way too quiet through a 1x12 vox blue. Great recording amp though. $2500 just for the head.

I have a morgan ac10 clone, and it sure sounds voxy to me with some fender 10" alnico speakers (the blue ones). I'd love to try it with a pair of those old elacs though. Anyone make a modern version/clone of the elac speaker?
