I just scored a Epiphone EJ-200
The Epi version of the J-200. I got the one without the cutaway, and the electronics.I am not a fan of the cutaway. It takes away from that nice Jumbo body. I do want to put a pickup in it, just like the J-200 has. Does anybody know what pickup Gibson uses for their J-200?

Gibson uses both L.R. Baggs and Fishma Aura Pro systems - you can check the Gibson site for more info.

I checked with Gibson. They use the L.R Baggs on the J-200, but the guy on the phone didn't know exactly what model. Does anybody know? Also checked out the K & K Pure Country Mini. That looks interesting as well.

Just curious... I played a Gibson SJ-200 the other day that sounded great. At over three grand, buying one is out of the question.
How do you like your Epi? Does it make a nice strummer for jam sessions and whatnot? Have you tried any Gibson SJ-200s, and if so, care to compare? Thanks! |

I too wanted a Gibson J-200, but I don't play acoustic guitar enough to justify paying that much. So the next best thing to being there, the Epi will make due. I think it sounds great. I love the projection of the Jumbo's. I haven't played the Gibson version in a while. From what I recall the Gibson sounds a bit brighter. I'm sure it's made with better woods and materials. The Epi is fine though. Play them both and compare, but I think you'll find the Epi is pretty damn good.
