I still use the MXR Super Comp that someone gave me. Does the trick for me, if you don't want to squash the signal that much. Gets a lot of play on Nashville boards from what I understand, as well.

I have a boss-cs-3 and a barber tone press...I prefer the barber...it doesnt color your tone, it compresses it, but doesnt change it...i noticed the boss cs-3 does, not necessarily a bad or good change, but it does...

Tone press!!!

Barber Tone Press works fine with my EMG humbuckers and single coils.

Diamond compressor does the trick for me, Blackouts or passive humbuckers.

Diamond Compressor rocks, it definetley fattens up your tone especially if you crank the Comp knob. Eq is great, it changes things a great deal.

Barber Tone Press was the ONLY compresser that I found that worked well with high output buckers, because of the blend feature.

Anyone using a Juicer or Orange Squeezer style compressor with humbuckers?

My Wampler is in the mail. I'll let you know-meanwhile, the Tone Press is the humbucker champ.

Wampler tested: awesome with humbuckers. Very similar to the Tone Press. Can't go wrong either way.

Kinda big and AC powered but Carl Martin comp can be dialed in real nice w/buckers.

Humbucker user here. The AYA R-comp works beautifully. It's more of a natural, transparent compressor, for added presence and body. Like a "clean enhancer".

I also use the Analogman Orange Juicer, for a more exaggerated attack and that "pumpy quality".
