Tele with humbucker in the neck, worth getting?

I already have a regular Swamp Ash/ Maple tele and am just curious to know if a neck humbucker model of the same type guitar would be worth it. Thanks

I have two ash/maple Tele's and have begun collecting parts for an ash/maple with a Seth Lover in the neck.

Ive got a Rocketfire t-style with a Curtis Novak in the bridge and a GuitarForce rebel I PAF-style in the neck. It is a great marriage because the bridge just sings and is great for all the really clean stuff I do, and the neck is really thick and is great for rhythms and such. I love having a bucker in the neck... If I want single coil neck, I grab my strat. The tele tone Im after is in the bridge...

I had a WCR Crossroads humbucker in my ash/maple tele, paired with a lollar special in the bridge. I loved it! The lollar kept up with the WCR without any problems. I only recently switched back to a single coil to try something different, but would entertain getting another 'keef' tele down the road.

FWIW, I had mine set up with a 5-way superswitch so i could split the WCR. Worked out great!

I would say yeah it's worth it, I have played a few and owned one, it was a nice switch from the usual twang mode I associate teles with.

Thumbs up

I have a Tex-Mex with 5-way switching (neckbucker splits) and it's one of the most versatile guitars I have.

Definitely worth checking out. I have two Tele Customs. One is a partscaster (great sounding guitar!!) and the other is a MIJ Fender. I love 'em. I usually run with both pickups on (switch in middle position) and roll back the volume on the neck. This'll give you some low end but still retain the bite of the bridge PU.

And, Keith Richards seems to think they're ok.

Definitely - I just put a Seth Lover in my G&L Tribute Bluesboy. I like the diversity it offers in having three very usable tones - neck for buttery jazz or rhythm, neck/middle for chimey yet fuller than traditional tones and the bridge for pure ol' twang.

Thanks, really a nice guitar for MIM. Best part-- seller misrepresented it originally as a "California Series" (sanded "Made In Mexico" off back of headstock, but forgot to sand off the MN serial number) and I walked. Called back a few weeks later to see if he still wanted to sell it, at which point I knew I had him over a barrel.

Got it for $125 + non-Fender gigbag! This was about 10 or 11 years ago.

+1

This particular model was my first tele! I sold it on ebay 5-6 years ago and still think about it to this day. Great guitar for the money. You don't see them all too often IME.
