Good Pedal for a Fender Deluxe Reverb?

Hello,

I picked up a Fender Deluxe Reverb, and am trying to find a good OD pedal to run with it.

So far I've tried these that I own MI Tube Zone, Boss SD-1, Overdose by Big Lloyde, Coffin Blood Drive...and I still need to try my Butler Tube driver...haven't tried that yet.

Any suggestions?

I have a deluxe reverb. I like my barber direct drive, barber small fry, marshall guv'nor 2+, and Ibanez Tube King TK999US into it with my faded sg. I lean more towards the guv'nor and the tube king because they have more bass. More bass gives me a bigger sound. But, the barbers are good pedals so they stay.

I also have a delta lab td-1 and dgfx-1. Both of them are good for me too. Had I bought the dgfx sooner, I would have a much small pedal collection. It's great.

I don't have such luck with my danelectro cool cat drive and distortion. Both of them are horribly fizzy in spades with my deluxe and sg.

Catalinbread Silver Kiss sounds great with DRRI, if you want Marshall flavor, try Dirty Little Secret..

When I had a Deluxe Reverb the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 worked pretty good. But overall, it wasn't the most pedal friendly amp I've owned.

What B of H said.

The scooped EQ of the DR (and many other Fender amps) loves the mid-hump of a good TS. It's a TS808 RI for me.

This one has worked the best for me. It does seem like the Fenders benefit from a pedal with some mid-hump and compression which the DD definitely has, but it's not overcompressed and boxy than a TS9 and has a wide range of tone and gain. A basic TS is fine, but you can definitely do better.

I also had an OCD V3 for awhile - it only sounded good when the amp was cranked. At low/moderate volumes, it sounded horrible - really fizzy, not smooth, no sustain. The dynamics everyone talks about are definitely there, but the TONE was not.

A hint - use the regular channel, not the vibrato channel. It sounds better with OD pedals. Just no reverb or vibrato.

Analogman KOT and Mad Professor Sweet Honey have worked fine with mine. However, still nothing comes even close to the Cornish SS-3.
