Marshall JMP PA 20 Conversion
Hi Marshall fans out there,
I have a Marshall JMP PA 20, I believe it was made in '73. I've heard that they can be converted to the "Lead and Bass model", the reissue is known as the 2061 I think. Has anyone out there done this mod? What was the result? I've heard it's supposed to give you some more gain. Should I try this, or just leave it as is and use some overdrive/distortion pedals to get my dirty sounds? Looking for opinions. Thanks! |

Please, leave it be. That's a swell amp.

I have a '71 -2061 lead/bass,my favorite marshall.these amps have a plexi crunch at working volume, they do not have a ton of gain.IMO this is great, since the amp naturally produces great classic rock tones and a low/med OD pedal can cover most higher gain rock sounds.then of course there are all those fuzz tones...I would suggest living with your amp for a while before making changes.

My '70 50 watt Super PA JMP sounds just spectacular just the way it is. I would not change a thing.

Was playing it last night........I love the sound. Cleans sound awesome, and with and overdrive plus a distortion pedal, I can get some great dirty sounds.
I think you guys are right, I'm going to leave it as it is. Thanks for the input! Rob B. |
