Krokus - "Our Love"

Any other Krokus fans on TGP? I got to thinking about what was on the radio in the early 80's in Baltimore, and Krokus popped into my brain after a 20+ year absence. Great stuff!

Great live band. We used to play Midnight Maniac. I can't listen to much of the lead singer though...every note is a high pitched scream. The guy would be great in a Friday The 13th movie.

Has to be one of the most underrated metal bands of the 80's. One Vice at a Time and Head Hunter are my faves. With 20 albums to their credit it's strange they wern't bigger. I'm sure sounding somewhat like AC/DC didn't help.

I used to listen to One Vice at a Time a lot in the early 80's. It sounded like the great lost AC/DC album.

I like 'em. The Blitz & Headhunter are stellar 80's hard rock records. I've also got Metal Rendezvous, One Vice at a Time, Alive & Screaming, Change of Address, & Heart Attack. All solid records too.
I thought their Arista cassette sleeves looked cool because they were always red and stood out from nearly every other band.
Agree about them being a great live band. Saw them open for Priest in '86 & headline a club in Baton Rouge in '88. Both times the were tight & energetic. Got to meet them after the '88 show. Cool dudes.
The only thing that bothered me about them was their ever changing lineup. Storace, Von Arb, & Kohler were seemingly the only constant members of the band.
I never got the AC/DC comparison. To my ears they didn't sound alike.

i read marc storace turned down an offer to audition for ac-dc after bons death.
he thought krokus was going to be bigger than ac dc. ouch.

You have to listen to the pre-Headhunter stuff (Metal Rendevous, One Vice at a Time, Hardware etc.). Some of it is blatant as hell.

One Vice At A Time is THE lost AC/DC record!

I Didn't care much for the Blitz. When you turn to Bryan Adams for material, you're done.

Headhunter was actually a VERY successful Album. It never charted really high, but sold solidly and consistently for years. I'm not sure where to find current stats but I believe it sold several million copies.

Krokus missed their shot in 1983, and you can blame Peter Mensch for that. Krokus was the first opener on Def Leppard's 1983 headlining tour, supporting their own Headhunter LP. They were stealing the show from the Leps, much the same way Def Lep did to Billy Squier earlier that same year. Mensch was Leppard's manager, and he fired Krokus and replaced them with Uriah Heep, who themselves were in a quite lame reunited state in 1983. No threat to Mensch's boys.

Headhunter was the acme for Krokus, IMO. After that album, Chris von Rohr left the band, and took all the cajones with him.

I remember hearing "long stick goes boom" on our local rock station back when it came out.
Its like "hmmm whos that?"
Got their greatest hits cd.
Lotsa good tunes from them.
Remember also a lot of airplay on Mtv.

I got to see them on the Headhunter tour. For the life of me I can't remember if they were opening for Def Leppard or for Kiss. Either way I do remember it was a hell of a show!
