Roger Linn: genius

Back in the early 90's when I first started playing guitar I was convinced that multi effects units were the bomb. I didn't know better and the flashy marketing brochures at the local guitar store convinced me that the Digitechs and Bosses could do everything in one box and sound amazing whilst doing it. However something was always missing and I NEVER got a good tone. Even back in those days not knowing a lot I just knew it didn't sound great to my ear. Then I discovered the Tubescreamer TS-9 and Boss DD-5. I never looked back to multi-effects and even turned my nose up when the POD came along. Still not a fan.

That was until I discovered The Roger Linn AdrenaLinn III by chance during a YouTube chain-clicking session.

WHAT A REVELATION! I had a good look through further info on the web, soundbytes and testimonials, and became convinced I'd finally discovered the multi-effects unit that had been promised by technology advanced for so long. And when I received it and plugged it in, unlike every other time with every other multi-effects unit, it exceeded my expectations.

This thread is already too long so I won't go into detail of the workings (perhaps if I get some comments requesting a run down then I will do so) but will say that in one box there is a massive amount of tonal power, and the thing is that it SOUNDS AWESOME! It's not just an awesome idea, it is an awesome sound tool.

Lastly, the thing is that it was conceived and developed by a guy called Roger Linn who essentially works out of his own home. His company is very small and in my opinion have produced a product and tool far better than anything the big players offer.

Roger Linn; you are a genius in my book. Thank you for making what I saw and heard in my head a reality.

I own a slough of tube and ss amps and I have two Adrenalinn III's. If I had to give up everything and just keep one thing, it would be the Adrenalinn. Ton's of amps, effects, drums and all very tweakable. Small enough to carry in some guitar cases too.

I haven't tried it into a PA yet so have bypassed the amp sims and just been playing with the modulation settings mostly. But just those in themselves are more than worth the price of the unit as they are very musical and inspiring for a digital multi-effects unit. Usually they sound sterile and dull. The ones in the AdrenaLinn III just liven up my tone and it's hard going back to a clean tone!

They are really small though hey for a unit with this much power.

Roger Linn is still active?

You would think inventing the drum machine would be enough for this cat, but I guess not. Sounds like a cool box.

Hummm, I haven't used it for effects only. I will definitely go through them without amp sims. I think the aim sims are very good. One preset in particular, I think it's 16 or 19 has that Jeff Beck early yardbirds sound to it. It's close to The Nazz Are Blue sound which I drool over.
