Petition for a proper Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi album

Derek's band has a great singer, but imagine if you will an album that goes as far out as DTB's improv jams can go, but all grounded in the sincerity and soulful power of Susan's voice. Like the the first song on her 'Hope & Desire' album, but a bit more adventurous... sort of a modern Allmans with a bit of estrogen in the mix.

Produced by Daniel Lanois. Mixed by Tchad Blake. Guest stars: Brian Blade, ?uestlove, Roy Hargrove, the Blind Boys. Songwriter-y Songs by John Hiatt, Tom Waits, Nina Simone, etc. And a bit of Hendrix. And 'In My Time of Dying.'

I feel like there's a gap for a forward-thinking yet rootsy band with an awesome female singer and a musical genius on guitar. John Mayer could use some competition... all in favor?

I heard from a dude who's best friend used to live next door to a dude who lived in the same area code as Derek and Susan that they have that disc recorded. They're going to call it, "When Monkeys Fly Out Of Our Asses."

I feel that, indeed. I think every genre/style can use a shakeup, generally speaking. I'm in a female-fronted afrobeat band, and I guarantee it makes everyone play differently and more interestingly than trying to cop Fela every night.

I would certainly buy a Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi cd. Put my name on the petition.

So how about this? How do you know? And Why?

Always liked Derek solo, with no singers. His style is "vocal enough", no singers needed!

Before I saw this was a two-year old thread, I wondered if we were barking about the new Tedeschi-Trucks album.

I've got the new CD in my car but haven't heard it all the way through yet.
Gimme time.
My favorite song of theirs is one of their previus solo records" "The Feeling That Music Brings" -- a song she wrote for him. Their interplay is gorgeous.

And just for the hell of it, Tedeschi and Los Lobos doing Little Wing

I've been going through various songs of theirs on Youtube on the other screen and this one leapt out. Sound quality is poor -- but what a performance!
Man, I gotta see this band live.
