my d120 is the most versatile amp i know! whether live or in the studio, it's so easy to dial in great tones.

Call me a toothless crack hoe for diverting the thread slightly, but Bob Savage, I think your boosted Marshall 1981 2203 w/ G12-65s is easily my favorite tone on your videos, both rhythm and lead sounds. Apart from the obvious of being only medium-gain on its own, how does the boosted 2203 rank in your mind to your D60, tone-wise? Recorded vs in person?

I have several 2203s, an SLO and an XTC, and have been on the fence over checking out a VHT D120. I've had a VHT PB Ultralead which didn't work for me, tonally, and I have a rare 4-space EL34 chromeface VHT Classic 2100 power amp I am not too much a fan of, too bright and sterile. My Egnater Velocity Valve power amps destroy it (sorry S.F.). I greatly dislike how he voiced it and he will not mod its voicing circuit for me, was not very pleasant at all when I called him about tweaking it to warm it up either, so it collects dust. These things scare me off from checking out the D120 (no customer support, and the bright, sterile tone).

Lots of guys reading these posts use and love boosted 1975 to 1983 Marshall 2203s, and wish they could get that sound, feel and tone from a higher-gain, off-the-shelf production or semi-boutique amp. It seems from different clips I've heard that the Deliverance is the first VHT that, to me, has almost a marshally quality to the preamp gain tones, although more refined perhaps and not as harmonically dense, maybe? Can you compare for a moment the D60 to the boosted 2203, tone- and feel- wise?

I am also starting to look at Landry...

Thread bump. DT, those are beautiful tones. Love them.

Also, the Brian Kahanek clips that used to be on the VHT site are awesome. I have them downloaded and on my iPod and listen to them all the time.

Fryette Amps all have a very unique sound and feel... quite different than most any other amp most have played. It's seems to definitely be a love/love or hate/hate thing.
