Question Anyone know what the first octave pedal was?

And I'm talking without the fuzz…thanks

I would also like to know that. Could it be the Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer? It was introduced sometime in the 70th. Most of the earlier stuff was Fuzz-based (like the Tychobrahe and MXR Blue box)

Perhaps it was someone experimenting with a ring modulator using the signal to process itself.

just kidding.
I remember having an old VOX pedal (prototype I think my, father brought from R&D and it was sat around the house for years), that was ages ago though. 1980 I think, but he said he had had it for about 12 years. No freaking idea if it ever went into production though. I'll try to dig it out next time I'm home.

I would say the maestro ob-1, I have one from 1972 with factory true bypass!

Assuming that the question was regarding an octave down pedal (not fuzz/octave up, i.e. Octavia), then... what Mike said.
