Amp blowing fuses
I have a VHT Sig:X that has recently started blowing fuses. After about 5 minutes of playing, the sound gets really crackly and I can smell something getting hot. It just happened a few minutes ago, and I looked inside. I could see that one of the power tubes was glowing bright orange. I'm thinking it's time for a new set of tubes. I bought the amp used, so I have no idea how old the tubes are.
Am I on the right track? |

Yes, you sure are.
When a tube "redplates" it draws a huge amount of current. This current draw will exceed the rating of the fuse, and the fuse will blow. Always replace your fuses with the proper value for your amp

Heck yes. I made sure to check the manual for this particular bit of info. It would be really stupid to cause serious damage to an amp by cheaping out on a 50¢ fuse.
