Saw Charlie Hunter tonight in Boston

My friend got me a ticket to see Charlie Hunter at Reggatta bar in Boston.

I love his vibe and groove. Man, he was so amazing. The way play his instrument... it was really fun to watch him. Inspiring!!! I knew John Mayer was a bit influenced by him... but I didn't realize a lot.

Any Charlie Hunter's lovers out there? He plays funky JB bass and plays guitar so tasteful ... He got a great touch and great tone!

If you can .. just watch his love show... you are already improved with amazing musicality...

Tomo

Caught him a couple times out in SF, wish I knew he would be out here, surely would have tried to get to the show. He never fails to blow my mind.

I've been following his career since the first Charlie Hunter Trio album. He's amazing and constantly trying new things.

Big fan, haven't seen him yet though.

Just picked one of his discs today, the three piece with keyboards. Don't like it as much as the others, but it's his guitar album fer sure. I love the way he comps behind the fray with his leslie sound pumpin, he was influenced by big jazz organ guys big time.

Huge Charlie Hunter fan here. I've seen him twice. The first time was with Bobby Previte and the Coalition of the willing. Great stuff, and Charlie was playing a Telecaster all night!

The second time he was touring with a drummer and keyboard player and it was utterly amazing. Funk, Zep, Jazz and everything in between. I've never seen an audience leave a theater is such a universally calm and beautiful mood.

Charlie is a very special musician. Very nice guy too!

I tend to go back and forth between being amazed at what he's doing, and then losing myself in the music no matter how many musicians are involved. And then realizing that most of it is coming from one guy and watching him do it.

It's kind of like an organ trio. With less folks involved in the foundation, they can turn on a dime. Most times I've seen him with a horn player. But my favorite album is the Return of the Candyman with the vibes.

Oh yeah, saw him the first time about 13 years ago and was blown away. Also saw him a year or two later with T.J. Kirk. That was sick. Charlie is awesome indeed. Glad to hear he is still working it, I'll have to get a recent recording to catch up......

I've seen him probably 20 times at least, but it has been a few years. Such amazing talent. I'd like to see a recent show now that he's strayed from the old organish sound.

I'm a big Charlie Hunter fan. I own most of his albums and I've seen him three times (twice in Buffalo, once here in Erie). Great show every time.

If you go to archive.org you can download a shitload of gigs by Hunter. The last bunch with just drums and guitar is incredible stuff. One of my all time favourites and one of the very few doing interesting fingerstyle.
