Beatle isolated track "Because"

Didn't want to hijack the other Pepper thread and worthy of it's own.

This is from the Beatles Anthology and moves me everytime I hear it.

Put on some headphones, these guys could sing.

"Because" vocal harmonies:

I'd guess it has been transcribed. The Monterey County Honors Band students sing an arrangement of it. [it was just on local TV a few minutes ago].

Great track. I know it's available somewhere on sheet music, mostly because I've seen a few choirs perform the piece. Although the directors could have transcribed it themselves.

It really is a remarkable harmony recording (and a great song, too). I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that this has Paul, George, and John each tripled in the mix.

Maybe all these auto-tune junkies should check this out.

They use this acappella version in the the Crirque/Beatles "LOVE" show in vegas. The custom sound system in that theater is unreal...and this track is even more amazing.

I think the mix of "Because" is enhanced and cleaned up (if that's possible) on the LOVE soundrtack. That disc is worth owning if you've seen the show. If you haven't, I recommend it -and I'm not a cirque fan. I'm a Beatle fan.

Re: their harmonies. We did a Beatle medley in one of my old bands. They had some tricky stuff going on, even on some of the easy sounding tunes.

Then you get to a song like "Yes It Is" - which was done in their early days when they were rushed through their sessions, had limited tracks...1 track for the harmonies. They really had to sing all the harmonies live in the studio (albeit with punch ins), but gathered around a mic, blending, hitting those parts.

So much talent...

I seem to recall that George Martin wrote these vocal parts.

The Hal Leonard publication "The Beatles Complete Scores" has the all the parts transcribed.

You're probably right.

I know that they doubled just about everything (even the bass gtr) from reading The Beatles Recording Sessions.

I went to check but must've lent the book out, argh.

Kinda was, in a way, "auto" meaning "self" and all. Best way to fix vocals is to learn to sing in the first place!

Here is Elliott Smith's a capella cover, as used in the ending credits of American Beauty.
