Anyone know where to find .016 wound strings?
Does anyone know where to find .016 wound individual guitar strings? It doesn't matter what brand.....just needs to be .016 wound electric.

I'd Google "wound .016 electric guitar string" or "wound 3rd electric guitar string." You'll probably find a source. I briefly used wound 18s on the g-string a few years back. Really neat sound-wise, but I kept breaking them. Maybe 'cause the inner core is actually relatively thin??? I don't know. Like I said though, they sounded cool...

I've searched long and hard for a .017 or even .018 wound pure nickel string and have had no luck. .017 nickel wrap are the smallest wound I've been able to find. D'Addario are the most durable I've found yet. The Fenders start to kink and fray after only hours of use.

GHS makes a decent wound .018w and you can get custom sets from a GHS dealer if you buy a box. Can't use D'Addario wound thirds since I bust them with the first bend.

Well, now I'm curious since others report them fraying and breaking. Is it in fact an issue of a thinner inner core??

if you're going to use it for a guitar's G, then yes, a wound string is going to be the tightest thing on there, and the thinner you go the quicker it will break.

I've used wound .017s as "B"s before. Never thought of a .016, cause I use plain .017s normally, but I'd try juststrings.com, they will tell you exactly what is available, what they carry, and what they can get. They are very helpful, I buy all my strings from them.
