Sadowsky semi hollow with Lollar imperials

Just recieved my Sadowsky semihollow, great instrument, it really carries the hollowbody sound much, much further than my 335 by far. Not sure what stock pickup it carries, they sound good and balanced but not as warm in my perception as the gibson 57 I am so used to using in other guitars, looking at the Lollar Imperials good reviews, has anyone tried this combination, Sadowsky semihollow with Lollars? plus, any feedback on the Imperials, thanks!!!

Ask Roger. He has worked with Lollars pups and might have even tried a set in a semihollow.

I am almost positive some folks here on TGP swapped in Lollars; I can't remember who. Try a search with Sadowsky; searching Lollar and Lollars will keep you busy for two lifetimes.

Alot of those p/u's that mimick the3 early paf are clear and bright as opposed to warm and fuzzy.

What you want is 57's or a 4 wire p/u that mimicks the 57's.

Ive read that vanzandt has one but i'm sure if you posted a question in that regard...you would get plenty of answer. Also try moving the current one very slightly closer to the strings, slightly roll off the tone, and see what happens.

I'm a new Sadowsky owner too. I received my semi hollow on September 24. I believe the stock pups are some kind of DiMarzio's. The only DiMarzio's I've had in the past were Super Distortion pups in a Les Paul Custom. I didn't really like that combination so I've stayed clear of them until this Sadowsky SH. I'm playing through a Victoria Double Deluxe and like you I've found the jazz tone just kills a 335. But mine also has a killer, singing lead tone that's the best I've ever gotten from a humbucker bridge pickup. I've gigged with it twice and was really happy with the tone in a live situation. I also use a Zendrive, maybe that makes the difference.

Anyway, I'm very interested in hearing your opinion after the pickup change. Lollar Imperials are awesome pups and I don't think you could go wrong putting them in any guitar.

I'd also like to see pictures of your new guitar. Congrats.

Dimarzio winds Roger's pickups to his specs. I've found his guitar and bass pups to be nothing less than amazing. Sometimes he used Dimarzio, sometimes Lollar, Duncan...but if they get Sadowsky's approval, it should be a fine piece.

I switched out the dimarzio virtual pafs in my Sadowsky with lollar imperials. I liked it a lot better. To me the classic 57 is bottom heavy. I like the Dimarzio 36th anniversary PAF better.

I have the Sadowsky semi hollow as well. Mine has a set of Tom Holmes in it right now. Of course, it sounds unbelievable! I had Lollar Imperials in my Hamer Newport, and those are probably the closest runner ups to my Holmes. You'll love the Lollars.

Did you change the pups before or after the You Tube videos?
