Guitar Tech in Los Angeles or Orange County - Recommendations?
Hi All,
Any recommendations for a good guitar tech in the LA or Orange County, CA area? I usually use John Caruthers in Santa Monica/Venice but his shop is a little too far to drive to Thanks Jim |

I use both Eric and TINA at the Amp Shop on Ventura. IF SM was too far, dunno if you'll wanna hit the Valley. Their work has been first rate and I have always been pleased! Great folks!

I've actually had some good luck with The Guitar Shop in Laguna Beach.

Yes, he did warranty work on one of my guitars years ago.
Anybody ever hear of/remember John from Red Duck Music? Did he ever pop up anywhere? I lost track of him after he moved from Brian's (Top Hat) shop in Fullerton.

+1 for Leland at Westwood - he has done a lot of stuff for me in the past - nice work and a good guy. But maybe Westwood is still too far - are you in OC?

Fren Asken in LA. He has worked on my Tele and Les Paul. He is a great guy to spend time with and gets your gear back very quickly. Always available and super helpful.
http://www.frensterguitars.com/ He is very well respected in the LA pro scene as both a tech and player alike. He does acoustic and electric VERY well. I live in Newport Beach and will gladly make the trek to LA (which I hate BTW) to get my gear in Fren's hands. I would not recommend Jerry Blaha from Amp Crazy. To be honest, Jerry is Good guy who certainly knows his stuff (mostly about Amps) but he smokes like a chimney and is slower than slow. Your gear will reek from smoke and will sit and sit.
