Elliot Smith appreciation thread

One of my favorite songwriter's and a great acoustic player.
seems to have gone under most peoples radar.
IMO one of the best rhythm minds since lennon.

Loved him. I saw him live a few times and met him after a show in Montreal. It really hurts not being able to hear new music from him ever again.

I agree he came to a sudden and very sad death. His music will always live on in those of us he inspired.

My absolute favorite songwriter. I go through really deep phases of listening to his music.

In fact I just learned memory lane this weekend. A lot of his stuff is pretty tricky on guitar and he could play all the instruments (very well I might add). I know he has a huge following but it's good to see him get a nod from musicians as well.

I love most of his material but Waltz #2 is one of my favorites if anything just for the lyrics. I'm also a huge fan of 'independance day' and 'easy way out'

Was just practicing "Coming up Roses".
He really had a gift and as happens all too much, leaves us too soon.
