Strat Lovers: SSS or SSH

well I have been a SSH configuration strat guy but I am seriously considering taking out my humbucker out of the bridge position and puttting in a single coil and going all SSS.
Anybody have any opinions on my new plan???????????????

mine is a split coil humbucker in my HSS, gives me single coil and humbucker, have them in my other guitars as well, LPs and semi-hollow bodies, they need to be 4 conductor humbuckers so I replace the stock humbuckers.

SSS, it looks better than hss and its more true to the strat tone. only in my opinion though its your guitar after all.

I use SSS, but I wire a tone control to the bridge pickup, which helps take some edge off. Dial it down a bit, and with the right pedal and amp settings, it thickens up nicely.

I've always had a split "single coil size" bucker in my strat, my current fave is the Dimarzio Pro Track, fattens it up without being too over the top and it splits well.

SSH - gives me the power and fullness I need ... I don't like thin sound on the bridge.

HHH, with taps. Seymour Duncan JB Jr, Lil 59, and Duckbucker. Awesome!

I used to be an SSS-only guy. But after trying out an S-S-miniH strat, I'm now a convert. You sacrifice a bit of that quack in the mid + bridge position, but the expanded range of tones is worth it.
I plan on getting a JB Jr. for my strat sometime soon.

i have tried s/s/h 's tapped and untapped dont know why it never works for me

s/s/s with the right set of pickups is keys,,, like other have said wire the bridge to the tone pot. roll back to 7 and its great,, at 5 sounds like a humbucker

not fat enough or not enough power,, than its booster time,, or a base plate can help

My preference is a coil tapped single sized humbucker like the SD Lil '59. I have never had any use for the Strat single coil bridge sound.

Could never warm up to the single coil sized humbuckers. My "Super Strat"--with Floyd--has a full sized humbucker in the bridge. Traditional Strat--all singles. Kinda like having both.

I'd say that if you've only got one guitar then the additional versatility afforded by the SSH config is hard to beat. If you've already got a 'bucker' guitar then SSS I'd say

My Strats have always been S/S/S. But, I'm using the neck pickup 75% of the time and the 4th position the other 25%. I NEVER use the bridge pickup. I've always thought of the bridge pickup as a spare, so I guess I'm an S/S guy!

I was hell bent on a SSH Strat, tried a pile, but kept going back to the strat with the same mod. Never got the right balance with the SSH, and the "bridge and middle" tone wasn't quacky at all, no matter which lug was used with the middle.

That 5 second mod of adding the back tone knob to the bridge pickup is a godsend!
