Looking at this pedal "Thor" and just wanted to get some feedback if anyone has heard it.

I built the previous version to this pedal, the Thunderchief, which was a great overdrive, sounded a hell of a lot like a cranked Super Lead. I am about to start on my next two projects, a clone of a BJFE DRD and the Thor, so can get back to you in a week or three and let you know. Might be worth your time to have a read of this:

The Thor is an excellent design, IMO - it rivals or surpasses most "plexi in a box" pedals, IMO. And beyond that, it's great into the D.I. of your choosing. The "accuracy" is fantastic.
There are only two real downsides with it, IMO. One is that it's so good at aping the Marshall thing that you can't really get it to do something else (at least I couldn't). The other is that the initial preamp stages aren't self biasing like they are in most other "amp in a box" designs. You have to tweak them for the proper voltages, and all jFET's vary in the amount of gain that they'll give you. But once you get it dialed in, you might just get rid of all of your other Marshall amp sim pedals. Considering that the tone controls are merely a treble boost and bass boost, it's pretty astounding. It's one of my fave pedals of all time. |

Go to the link I posted in my reply to this thread. Search around and you'll find the Thor clip/s.
