Need your help selecting speakers for my 2x12
Greetings everyone,
I just bought a 2x12 Vertical Mojo Cabinet ( they are on sale for 200 bucks right now, go buy one) with black tolex, salt & pepper grill, and gold piping to go with my blackstar ht5 head. Now I need to pick out some speakers. I play mostly British blues / classic rock. Kossoff, Mick Ralphs, Peter Green, Clapton, etc...... Would love to hear recommendations on what I should look into. I've heard good things about mojo's speakers, warehouse speakers, and a few others. Thanks for the advice, -Put |

I love Zinky's Custom Eminence speakers.
So does Keith Richards. ![]() They're the dream tone in parallel.

Scumback... surprised you have to ask. This is the best speaker made today for the tone you want.

I've heard nothing but great things about scumbacks, but I wasn't looking to spend quite that much.

Combo an Eminence Governor and an Eminence Wizard. You will be thrilled. Absolutely awesome and affordable to boot. Easy to find these used as well, right here in the emporium.

wow, just checked mojotones site, I've been looking high and low for a 2x12 open back cab and had no luck. I might have to order one for myself (the wiz and governor are currently sitting idle and its killing me)

There`s always 'Warehouse Guitar Speakers'--nice selection, great quality [imo] and great prices as well.

I was looking at warehouse speakers. I've heard good things about them, and their prices are great. The Green Beret (green back clone), Reaper (H30), and ET65 (g1265 clone) all seem like good options.

Thinking of trying the Green Beret with the Reaper in the 2x12 since its open back.

Don't 'go cheap' with the speakers.
I have a few cabs loaded with Celestion G12H's (not the anniversary models) and they will definitely meet your tone/music requirements. I have the same influences that you listed and these G12H's are the schnizzle. They're not cheap at $200 each, but my speaker shopping has finally come to an end.

I think that they offer great speakers at great prices and I use them. Give David a call and discuss what you are looking for and he will give you his recommendations. I am very satisfied with mine.

WGS are very well made and of the two I own, 65 and 30 they are each a bit smoother and warmer than their celestion counterparts. Have not tried the Green baretts. The Scumbacks come up used often for about 120.00 shipped. The WGS will run close to 90.00 shipped.
