Premier Guitar-pedal issue

I think it's the November issue-tons of pedal reviews. I don't have mine yet-anyone already get it in the mail and if so when? I hope it's not lost. Anyway, the Rockbox pedal is reviewed-got 5 stars, which they don't give out often.

Mine always takes forever to get here also. If you can't wait you can go to their website and read the digital edition free.

Guitarist magazine in the UK provide a DVD with soundfiles, video, etc. Very useful.

I love Guitarist magazine and subscribed for about 5 years -- right up there with PG IMHO (which is now my fave). But for myself (uh. . .and to my wife :-) I just couldn't justify the $120 annual subscription any more. I know you get a CD/DVD every month with it, but as I told the publisher: if they did a CD-less version for maybe around half the price I'd renew. Wonder if others would as well? Great mag though.

Every pedal gets a rating from 4-5. Perhaps they should review their rating system. Also the pedals are pretty expensive. Why not have a budget, average, and high price option in each category?

Clips are important. We knew when we started doing pedal reviews on the site that we had to incorporate audio.

Yeah, the clip of that boiling point pedal let me know that it is NOT for me. Where's that vomiting smiley? Oh yeah:

Each and every pedal got a 4 star rating (in a range of 5). That's what I usually hate about reviews...

I agree that clip was under-whelming! But, as an owner of the boiling point, I can tell you they were simply showing you one option that pedal has to offer. Who plays a lead tone with their neck pickup and tone rolled all the way back? Not many...

The pedal has a ton to offer, some compare it to Landgraff, but I think it has it's own thing going on. It has very very musical feedback with the gain above about 2pm you can get some marshall tones that are out of this world (on the plexi setting) on the symmetrical gain side you can really dial in some different tones. I would caution you not to judge this pedal by one clip...look at PGS video and the video on youtube and even then it doesn't touch the tones this box has. My .02

I got it...Premiere Guitar is by far my favorite guitar mag...even the issues on bass and accoustic (not my primary interests) were great issues...and this pedal issue was sweet...my wife put it on my pillow as she knows what a pedal junkie I am...

All the audio clips i heard there sounded like crap...what is the point of doing something so elaborate and having such bad sound clips?

Do these guys know what they are doing?

The State Of The Stomp article pg. 120, not credited...

"I honestly think it's better than ever right now. You have a ton of variety to choose from, high quality builds, innovative new stuff, etc. More info at your fingertips than ever before to make informed buying decisions, and the forum system to connect directly with manufacturers. This is the golden age people, seriously."

I guess Analog Tom musta had writer's block or something, because 1/2 the article was mined from forumite posts on TGP and HCFX.
