SWART or Tone King

I'm looking at a 6V6 amp and am looking real hards at the Swart AST or a Tone King, Meteor or Metropolitian. Any recommendations from others is appreciated. I have only heard them from sounfd clips on the net. I'd like to AB them.
I play buckers primarily, with a slow groove, sustain and bloom, for blues, some country, and classic rock.

I owne and love the Meteor 2 head and 2x12 cab. It is a loud amp. Kinda off or on.

It handles pedals like no other...but is not a low volume amp. NO master volume.

I've never played through any amp like the Meteor 2. The glassy tones in live situations are transending.

The Swart also kicks ass. The Meteor is a very 3D sounding amp.

Kyle... kick ass tone man.

SWART: can't go wrong there either.

Both are good. I have a Meteor II. But the day I bought it my second choice was a Swart Atomic Space Tone.

Tungsten "Crema Wheat" is a fabulous 6v6 amp. I don't own one, but was very impressed with it at the Nashville amp show. It reminded me of my old '55 Tremolux (maybe better even)!

The website appears to be down right now, but his myspace page has some good info as well.

I currently have a Meteor II, and have had a Metropolitan and Imperial, so I'm very familiar with the Tone King amps.

I just bought a Swart MKII head, and haven't gotten it yet, but I played one for a while in the store. I've also played through a couple of the other Swarts.

If you want headroom, you should definitely go for a Tone King. The Tone Kings get pretty loud before they start to break up. With the Metro you can use the power scaling to make it break up at lower volumes though.

I think the Swarts are made to sound grindy and tweed-like at fairly low volumes, so if you dig that kind of tone all of the time, then a Swart is probably fine.
You're using humbuckers, which will cause the Swart to break up even sooner than it would with a single-coil guitar.

If I had to pick only one, I'd go with the Tone King because they are a lot more flexible and take pedals very well.

They are both great amp companies and have their own thing going on.

Thanks for the replies. I am a bedroom player, but looking to grow. Now to compound my question further how about thesre two amps compared to the D13 FTR37?

Big bedroom and distant neighbors. Don't have any of these amps yet. I was impressed with Mojocasters Swart AST demo. He manages his volume with setting on low and pedals to push it. That likely makes the Tone King last choice, but ... ? Of course that little Swart 5 watt looks really interesting, but I want to make room to expand my playing as I develop as a player.

Metro does have separate output controls for the rhythm & lead channels which would help with volume issues. All three amps would likely please you.

i had a TK Imperial and the Meteor II. Loved both beyond words. Why I sold them, have no clue. Had a Swart Space Tone Reverb, didn't like. If U yearn for a 3D blackface that has much more BASS, TK is the amp. I'm not really a tweed fan. Its really not fair to compare the small 5 watt swart to the TK. Never played the higher watt swarts. My opinion, U should own BOTH !!
