Frets are NOT something that maintain quality, much less "get better with age". And with the ease of changing back to stock (or any) fret profile, I just don't get why it's a big deal.
For the same reason that changing a screw on a truss rod cover of a '58 LP probably drops the value $10,000. Just not being original usually damages value on that type of instrument and many others.
