Which Tone do you prefer?
I am much happier with my tone when I turn the Gain Up good and High on my Gain Pedals, and the Volume Down about half way on my Guitar, rather than vice versa.

TS9 Clone with Gain set to 8:30 > Brownie with Gain set to 4:00 > OCD with Drive set to 8:30 > Sovereign with Gain set to 9:00, Bright ON, Boost OFF.
The first 3 are always ON for Dirt, and I use the Sovereign as a Solo Boost.

Volume on guitar usually all the way up, amp as high as is appropriate for the venue, and pedal gain to taste (low to med).

I like being able to control things from the guitar so I can move around. I even use my tone knob.

This, only not low to med on the pedal gain. High. High gain.

I can adjust my guitar's volume while I'm playing.

I can't adjust the gain of my pedals while I'm playing.
