as promised, this is #15 my best description is the you tube clip (please excuse my beer belly and white legs
the guitar is very powerful sounding clear yet has a "throaty" quality to it and yes, it plays itself and I mean it, Gerards " best of best" workmanship is appearent throughout this guitar, unplugged the resonance is really something to behold!

I can do that
the 295 is a different animal than the Master Artist
kinda like what Elvis said to Priscilla
"I love you like a Sister...only different"

I hear you on being in a 'position' to buy the trans black Master. Its actually down to $5k now. But that's still above my ceiling. One day...BTW, its #14 and I see Tonecontrol has #15. Very cool.

Awesome guitar and awesome playing. You deserve that guitar. I cant get over how nice the carve top is on these masters. Going to have to revisit the video tomorrow.

Big Country;

the carve is very dramatic, everything on it is over the top
Gerard put some serious Man hours into it

I think that's why he only made it to 15 (or16?) instead of making 20 like planned. I tried like the dickens to custom order a master artist to no avail. I then tried to get him to just do the carve top.. Nope. Then just the master headstock on a custom T ... Nope !

Fred, can we get a close up of the neck inlay? I've never seen that on a Mel. Congrats, very nice guitars!

So what do you all think of Gerards PAFN and PAFB? if you were to custom order a guitar what pickups would you put in? Im ordering one now and Im debating whether to get some outside humbuckers to put in....

Ditto on the pickups.

Also, anyone else care to comment on what makes a Mel a Mel? What's unique / different / special IYO?

The neck heel and his own compensated scale are probably the two construction items that are unique to the guitars. I would vote go with custom pickups just because it's a custom guitar and it's fun to research and tweak all the possibilities.

Mels are incredibly easy to tune. Notes just lock into pitch with absolute certainty, and a Mel will stay in tune for weeks at a time. I don't know what Gerard's secret is, but you really get spoiled by the ease of it all.
