Just bought a Taylor GS7 to replace stolen...

Last week my 11 year old Takamine GB7C was stolen out of my car. Same guitar Garth Brooks plays - it's been a workhorse. Something emotional about getting your oldest guitar stolen...I felt pretty violated.

On top of all of this, I definitely didn't have the $1500 laying around that it would cost to replace the guitar - not to mention the fact that after 11 years it had really opened up. A new one would be much more sterile. I was very fortunate to have an "anonymous" donor step in and offer to replace it. Incredible surprise and I feel totally undeserving, but was thrilled at the thought of getting a new guitar.

I shopped Martins, Gibsons and many, many Taylors. In the past I'd been a critic of the "Taylor sound". I could spot it a mile away on recordings or even live. But I had yet to hear or play a GS7 until last weekend. Great guitar! Very even, balanced tone. Could handle picking or heavy strums and everything in between. I play 1-2 times per week live so I needed something reliable and quality.

This morning I snatched one up off of eBay for $1275 shipped in the OHSC. Super thrilled about the purchase and couldn't believe the price! I'm definitely looking forward to playing it out. The GS shape is apparently from the R.Taylor high end series - so I'm guessing that's a pretty good sign if it's found on $5K guitars, eh?

I'll post some pics and results once the guitar gets here, just thought I'd share the good news!

Congratulations on the new GS!!!! Sorry to hear about your old friend being highjacked, but I think you're gonna love the GS... a friend has an R Taylor Style 1 (the GS shape) and I love that guitar! I'm pretty picky and totally in love with my hand-made Mark Angus 6 string (and have been for the 30 years I've owned it!), but playing my buddy's R Taylor really gave me a whole new GAS to worry about!

Hope it's everything you want, and more...
