Who are your fav Jambands?

Branching off from the other Jamband thread going here but I didn't want to jack the thread.

What are some of your fav bands that are labeled Jambands (even if they don't want the label)

Phish. Love 'em.

Yonder Mountain String Band. Not as much love now as I had in '03-'04 since they've adopted more of a pop and produced sound but those grassers can pick.

The Grateful Dead. 'Nuff said.

The Big Wu. No longer going full stride but I still love our local boys.

The Black Crowes. More off a roots rock americana band but they can melt some faces when they want/need to.

Medeski Martin and Wood. Love them, but in small doses.

Those are the few off the top of my head while waiting on hold. Wuchu got?

While you're at it, it would be cool to know your favorite CDs too.

Sure.

Phish: Story Of The Ghost. It has a creepy quality I like.
YMSB: IMO their earlier official live releases pwn their studio albums but it was the improv and jam that made me a fan.
The Grateful Dead: American Beauty
The Big Wu: Tool For Evening
MMW: Mostly listened to live bootlegs. Not that familiar with their albums.

I don't consider the Crowes really a jam band, although I guess they might.

To me Widespread Panic has always been the essential modern jam band. Outstanding musicianship, lots of instruments belded together to form a tight woven tapestry of sound, extended jams (obviously) as well as instrumentals, relentless touring schedule, thoughtful covers/respect for their predecessors but their own unique tone.

Umphrey's - 07/19/07 1 Set Festival show. Probably my favorite thought I will admit I am a bit of an umphnoob so what do i know.

Disco Biscuits - 10/05/02 I lost interest in them when the og drummer left so I don't know what they are doing now but this show is the ultimate technojambandsuperbowl.

String Cheese incident - 99 and 00 are littered with fantastic shows. 7-28-00 is probably my fav and and I was there so that weighs in heavily. Again, lost interest when they started leaving the bluegrass roots.

Others commonly refer to these as jambands/artists:

Medeski Martin and Wood
Steve Kimock
Moe.
Disco Biscuits
Leftover Salmon
Grateful Dead
Phish
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Allman Brothers Band
Umphrey's McGee
Derek Trucks Band
Mermen
Phil Lesh and Friends
The New Deal
Moonshine Still
Stanton Moore
Charlie Hunter
Zilla

Most of these excel Live instead of the studio, though I have albums from many of them, the live shows get much more play time.
