2500-4K depending on all sorts of factors.

I'd say yours in on the lower end...nothing rare about it, and not all original.

I have a 76 strat natural that i picked up for 1750 back in the summer. In the 09 vintage guitar price guide it was listed for 2000-2500. But i my store just received the 2010 copy and they went down in price to 1500-2000 low to high condition.

to me the biggest factor in large headstock strats is hendrix, strats from after he died are worth way less than those when he was around. esp cream colored are outrageous. i think for that 74, 2k is about right

I had 2 of the Best 73 strats ever I got off of Tony bruno in the early 90's. One blonde and one sunburst. The Blonde had a replaced Bridge pick up , otherwise they were both 100% original. I think I spent like $500 for the Sunburst and $700 on the Blonde. Sold them in 99' for like $1200 when I moved to Florida. Of all the guitars Ive bought and sold.........those are the 2 I want back more then anything!

'74 was a transition year for pickups with staggered pole pickups higher market value (sometimes referred to as a 73/74 to denote the pickups). Sub $2K if flat pole pus, low $2s if staggered seems about right. Have seen the rarer colors (sunburst was common) above $3K at dealers.

Don't know where you guys are getting these 74 Strats for 2k ?

Quick scan of E-Bay has 74 Strats at 3.5k to 9k. The 3.5k ones are usually Hard tails and missing some original parts or someone did a irreversable mod.

Show me some nice 74 Strats for around 2k please

9k for a 74 Strat!! Sheesh.. This vintage thing is getting ridiculous.70's strats are notorious for awful build quality, and for being really heavy. For less than 9k you can get an early 60's refin without original pickups-a players strat.Stick some good pickups in and you're away.

The issue is not 9k for a 74 Strat. Any Strat for 9k is rediculous IMO.

The issue is that you can't find a 74 Strat in good condition for around 2k and under like people in this thread are saying.

The issue is not what all 74 strats might be worth. There will be a wide range of values based on stagger/nonstagger, trem/hardtail, condition, color, originality, weight, etc, etc, etc.

The issue is what THIS strat is worth. A sunburst with a changed pot - no big deal. The refret is more of a detractor from the value if it's a maple board, since you generally have to refinish it (or else it looks like crud).

The issue of stagger vs nonstagger pus is very real, so the OP needs to answer that question for us.

I see what people are trying to sell them for but they ain't movin'. I seen one completely mint, original '74 in the most popular color, oly white, sell for $5K and that's even suspicious because of seller's bad rating.

In the last year, I've been looking and mid 70's strats have sold for $2-3K unless mint, might get a tad more.

DON'T GO BY WHAT THEY'RE ASKING!

Ah - maybe I'm out of touch with current pricing. A local dealer had a natural excellent/orig strat listed at low 4s and it was there a long time. Also had a sunburst that had been well used (good guitar, but not mint) for high 2s. It didn't last long in the shop and both are gone now. Didn't look close enough to see pu config, frets, etc.

Passing interest in these as I've a '74 I bought new from Elderly for $100 and an SG special trade. Hardtail, staggered pus and I've kinda 'thought' that it's market is around 2K, but no intentions of selling so is moot funny money.

Say what you want about 70's strats, but the early 70's ones have my favorite 3tone sunbursts.

Can see how much the front has faded by comparison.

I've never seen another one quite like it with the blackguard and white covers. I'm almost certain its original, Dad bought it in '79 from the original owner who had put a schecter PG assembly on it, but this was in the case. He said it was all original but who knows.
