Why are factory relics popular?
NO DISRESPECT FELLAS, but why are relics popular?
If I pay for a guitar I want it to be pristine! If I play it day and night then obviously it's going to get wear and tear but buying a new guitar already abused? In most cases the relicing (is that a word?) is overdone and unnatural to me anyway. ![]() I'm a closet guitarist and for me to have a relic would be contradictory. |

Oh why did you have to go there? Your Clapton Sig. inquiries were just fine, but this is an old, worn, contentious topic here. Oh well.....have at it guys!

I'll give it one shot...then I'm out
![]() Because if done right they are both comfortable (like a pair of worn jeans) and resemble a vintage version. |

Have you been on ice?
This is no longer valid BBS shop talk, instead it's worthy of research on perhaps hundreds of thousands of threads identical to yours, throughout internet discussion board archives across the web, translated in many languages. If you have the stomach and heart for it I encourage you to read every one of them, to understand the insight of the players who use them; Those that gaze upon them, those that envy them, those that don’t like them, those that despise them and use as a catalyst for deeper hatred towards mankind, and those that like shiny and new better. You’ll hear from builders, layman, giggers, surgeons, generals, music makers, professionals, professionals before the kids, professionals after music college, non-professionals, hobbyists, drummers, and at some point before the thread abruptly ends, cautious words from moderation. What will you gleam from this plethora of knowledge? Always in motion is the future. -- Yoda

If I were looking to purchase a new guitar, I'd buy the one that sounded & felt best to me, relic or not. I only consider the cosmetics if I deem all else to be equal.
