Absolutely, and the Gyroscope comes out on top. I found that (for lack of a better word), the Gryo "tracks" better (doesn't drop out as much), sounds fuller and fatter, and is just more musical. It's probably my favorite "special effects" pedal.

Prometheus wins in my book, but I use it strictly as an envelope filter. As a s&h filter, the Gyro is indeed more consistent with its modulation, but it comes at a price, as you can not adjust the sweep with the same level of versatility as the Prometheus; the Gyro has basically one consistent waveform, whereas the Prometheus can spit out off-time modulation and other bleeps/bloops that the Gyro can not. The Gyro tends to click/pop more on the upper end of its filtering.
The other side of the filters is an envelope on the Prometheus, and a triangle lfo on the Gyro (autowah); I have all my filter modulation covered with an MP201, so the Envelope is more useful to me, but the Gyro's autowah has a nice character and can get nice and funky. |

can the Gyro do the fixed wah thing like the Prometheus?

It's been a while since I had the Gyro, so I don't remember if you can effectively set the lfo depth to 0 (so no modulation) and use it as a static filter; I don't think it can be done but not 100% sure, but if you can you're still limited to only two frequency ranges (via toggle) of its lowpass filter, so probably not ideal for that application.
The Prometheus in Envelope Up mode with the Freq full CCW, you can use the Depth knob to set the filter Cutoff in each pass mode-- bandpass (BP) generally being the most wah-like. In Stepped mode, the Prometheus will also do a standard 'autowah' with the Step knob set full CW; the Prometheus seems very well engineered (layman's observation) in that there is a lot of versatility in packed in to it, and its knobs act with dual functionality in some settings (ie as described above). |

The Gyro can use an expression pedal. That looks cool to me. I'm also looking for something like these pedals.
