Nostalgia

This is probably a pointless post, but probably some of my favorite feelings are the ones I get from nostalgia. Sort of a happy sadness combo. Certain songs generally brings it on for me, but also visiting a place I haven't been to in a while can put me in a nostalgic state, especially if I had a lot happen to me during that particular area/ time.

I'm the same way. "Happy sadness" is a great description. Visiting places from your past is always a head trip. What's really sad is how many old places you knew are totally gone now. It makes you realize that nothing is permanent and time just keeps marching on.

A certain perfume can remind me of an old girlfriend.
Certain places
Music
Weather
Food
Colors

Usually for me, it's nostalgia mixed with melancholia
and it can be overwhelming sometimes.

It is said that it affects men much more than women.
Probably why the majority of songs and poems are written by men.

Nothing against the ladies, they can write great things too.

I often think of long ago, things and times gone by.

Once while sitting at the computer my wife approached while I had a tear rolling down my face.

She asked what was wrong to which I replied, "Nothing".

She then inquired as to what I was thinking about.
I answered, "My childhood".

She asked what had happened in it to upset me.

I told her, "Nothing, I just miss it".

Nostalgia is just not what it used to be.

Thinking of certain times can really get to me. Especially hearing music from then.

Not to long ago I was really nostalgic for the 90s. It put me in a funk for days.

that song reminds me of my 8track - I had that release and one other on 8track and my dad's old bubble earphones - the full sound out of those were amazing. I used to listen to that tape all the time.
the only song interupted by a track switch was that lights in nyc song. right in the middle of the break before the last solo.
