For the sake of humanity, can Thanksgiving Day football in Detroit be stopped?

Hasn't this "tradition" gone on long enough? What do you think?

Ford Motors was the first large sponsor of the NFL and it that loyalty that keeps the tradition going. When the Ford family sells the team the tradition will likely end.

Thanksgiving without football? Never I say! I'm personally looking forward to the A&M/Texas games. Hoping my Aggies can beat the hell outta t.u.

Sometimes, that's the only nationally televised game the Lions get.

If the Lions didn't play on Thanksgiving, we'd never see them. And, in the past, it was a good chance to check out Barry Sanders.
I like the tradition. Maybe next year they should play the Browns on Turkey Day.

I was refering to this past Sunday's game which is being touted as "the game of the year". Really, I don't mind games in which I have little interest in playing on Thanksgiving, that way i can watch and socialize with the family at the same. If the Giants are playing, well then I gotta concentrate a little more on the game a little more.

I don't mean no football on Thanksgiving, I mean no football involving the Detroit Lions

Well,
There will be 3 NFL games this thursday:

Packers/Lions
Raiders/Cowboys
Giants/Broncos

I'm only interested in the NY/Denver game...but you never can tell with the upset factor. I mean, who knew that the Raiders were gonna take it to Cincy? That Cowboys game could be interesting, if you look back to how big D did against the 'skins.

I'm a fan of tradition too...so blue and gray has always been a part of my Thanksgiving.

My .02,
S.

Patriates should play the Redskins every year. That seems fitting.

Yes!
I live in metro-detroit and we suffer through this horrible game every thanks giving...I HATE lions football, they suck, have sucked, and will continue to suck...
While we are giving away the TG game, can we ALSO sell this team to owners who will turn it around...The Ford Family cant run a car company, how could they manage a footbal team??
