tweak a R-Cube 30?
While I wait for my BFDR to be repaired, I picked up a cheap Roland Cube 30 off Craig's list.
It's very cold as I half expected compared to the tube but I wondered if anyone had some tips for warming it up? I'm not a heavy metal guy but I do like to do some singer songwriter home recording with an acoustic with piezo and a strat so just looking for some warmer, rounder tones. |

Don't think there's much you can do to tweak a SS amp other than change out the speaker. If you decide it doesn't work out for you send me a message. I'd like have a versatile home practice amp.

Try an EQ pedal. I'd think that's the cheapest way and you could use the EQ with other amps as well.

Utilize the power soak.
Honestly, when I had my Cube 30 I got some of my favorite tones out of that on like 7 (no power soak) on the brit channel with gain about 6-8. Honestly phenominal. Could've been the guitar or acoustics but all in all I always loved the Cube series. I bought the 60 for some lesser gigs and it doesn't have the same cut the 30 does. |

Ah! I actually have an old Fish N Chips EQ in the FX boneyard drawer. I'll haul it out thanks.
Once the "Verb" is back up and running I'm hoping to go stereo with the cube. That should warm it up for gigs. |

Just don't get that crappy GE-7 pedal is all. It's noisy & has poor tones like most Boss pedals. The two MXR EQ pedals are much better IMO

The Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ seems to have made the difference for me.
Along with my DDL and Comp/limiter I'm now getting some sweet sounds at low levels. Thanks Guys. |
