Just curious.....Adam Lambert

Not asking for opinions on his music etc as that is obviously subjective.....

But I thought I would throw this out there for the sake of conversation:

He gets cancelled from GMA and is getting a lot of grief for how racy his performance was on the AMA's.

The performance occurred at 10:55 in the evening and how is his performance any different from Madonna kissing Britney on the MTV awards a few years back? Or from the same show, Shakira and her dancers showing their name and numbers with the shortest skirts on the planet? Lambert is making the claim that there is a double standard and I am agreeing with him.

Just curious what the music world (here at TGP) thinks of the censorship aspect that has come into play (they edited his performance for the West Coast feed)

I've always thought that the guy is sleazy. He pushed the envelope and now is paying the price. The whole oral sex simulation was pretty raunchy as well. Madonna isn't much better, but there is a bit of a double standard.

In my opinion - shoving a guys face in your crotch while you dry hump him is far and beyond what madonna and britanny did a few years ago. Expecially when the production crew had no idea he was going to do this. Censoring takes time, times = money, so Lambert cost them money with his stunts and he got the boot from the GMA performance. Totally justified in my opinion.

ABC makes money from advertising revenue. Advertisers see something they don't like, and they pull their ads. ABC doesn't care what viewers think, but viewers buy the advertisers' products and the advertisers get nervous. In ABC's case, it's not about censorship, it's about business. ABC is not going to take a dive over Adam Lambert's art.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with this policy. It is what it is.

I don't think it's censorship. Perhaps if he wants to advertise his preferences he should build his own media outlet. Is the Madona thing a double standard ? Yes . . . . I'm not familiar with the Shakira example so I don't know.

I didn't see the Adam Lambert thing and quite frankly the Madonna/Britney thing turned me on about as much as taking out the trash. What ever happened to leaving a little to the imagination? Sure there's a double standard. I mean let's be honest, I'm not bashing anyone for anything but gay men like to look at gay men. I have no intrest in that sort of thing...

I agree, but to be devils advocate, hasn't Madonna dry humped just about everything that moved and it wasn't a big deal?

FWIW, i'd like to hear what Rob Halford or, if possible, Freddie Mercury would have to say about it.

Yep, and didn't Mick and Keef kiss, or almost kiss on SNL in the 80's?

Still, not something I want to see...and I didn't.

If the song/performance was better it would be a non-issue.

I'm amused..and feeling a touch of nostalgia, thinking about the time when I was listening to WASP while there was outcry about their lyrics, album covers and whatnot. I had tickets when they visited here as support for Iron Maiden, but they weren't allowed to play due to rampant PC panic in the city council..

So people still do this shit? Getting all riled up over some stage antics?

True, very true, but did you see the full video of Adam's performance on the AMAs? I think its one of the raciest things I've seen on live TV, I've not seen a great number of Madonna's performances though.

Actually, why was he even there?? He hasn't done anything besides not win a talent contest.

More proof that these award shows are nothing more than marketing mediums for the labels.
