BJFe Red Rooster Booster, Little Red Trebler, and CLIFFHANGER pedals all demoed!

a fellow member on the BJFE forum loaned me these to play with

the RED ROOSTER booster is simply superb. i REALLY liked this one:

next up -- the Little Red Trebler -- this is more of a "utility" pedal. Bjorn says it is like a "Fender brite switch in a box" -- this would be handy for those who own darker sounding amps.

finally -- the CLIFFHANGER, the most high gain pedal that Bjorn makes. it's pretty rare, i don't think there are more than ten of these around. i demoed this pedal last year with a tourbox, and didn't really bond with it then -- but i was using a Soldano amp and my strat with single coils.

today i used my Nolatone 22 Tango and a guitar with a humbucker -- and i had a LOT better time with it.

thanks man!

the LRT is an interesting beast. Bjorn asked me to go over to my buddy George Scholz's shop, and try the LRT on one of the 100 watt HiWatts thru the normal channel so that i could REALLY hear what it does.

that BJF Red Rooster just ROCKED my world, though.

i have not owned a treble booster since the late 70s, i had an EHX "screaming bird" treble booster (the small one that could plug into your guitar)

was digging the RED ROOSTER for sure.

and the CLIFFHANGER was a lot of fun.

it brought the SABBATH riffs out of me!

Yeah, the LRT will shine more with a tweedy amp like a Swart and a Les Paul neck pick up, etc.... I don't think the Nolatone is an amp that would really need it....

What are your thoughts on the BBOD?

BBOD is a great pedal.....and it was interesting to find out that it is a FUZZ and not an overdrive

i had one for a few weeks, and liked it a lot. it's a bit finicky and amp dependent, so it does not work well for everyone.

plus, the parts needed to make it dried up, so it is out of production.

i would not mind having one for my collection and studio use, but i don't think it would ever make it onto my live pedalboard.

Nice demo of the RRB. I think it might be my favorite BJFe pedal. It's crushing.

you know......i have not played thru a treble booster since my EHX screaming bird i had in the late 70s.

one of my local friends had a cornish TB-83 extra, and that sounded GOOD.

a friend from the BJFE.org forum sent me the Red Rooster to try out, and i have to say i am really impressed!

also want to try the analogman Beano Boost as well.

a good treble booster is REALLY nice to kick your amp into overdrive.

newarkwilder has the DAM Red Rooster, and loves it.....

the BJFe Red Rooster really just blew me away. i think i'm gonna go plug it in and jam on it some more before i have to send it back

i know....but the '69 is now being played and loved by my good friend Trina (shnook here on TGP) and it is getting some much needed rest and relaxation.

i played that guitar for YEARS, and it was time for a change.

i am playing my GMW now, and will be having Lee at GMW make me a custom "Bobby D model" next year.

i miss the '69.......but am very happy it went to such a good home. and i know that if i ever need it again for recording, Trina will let me borrow it

Heck, I did not know you sold it, i thought it was just out as loaner to your friend for a recording project.

But it sounds like it went to a good home and Trina will enjoy it very much.

Cheers

I(Trina) have to jump in here and say that the '69 Strat is loved and getting played daily. It's a fantastic guitar and I'm blessed to play it.
I just hope Bobby is digging my old GMW Strat at least half as much as I dig the '69. I promise to take good care of it.

Not to derail Bobby's thread, but if you miss the '69 Strat, here's a quick little video.

Now, back to the BJF fun!

yeah......it did my heart good to see that '69 strat inspiring Trina to play sort of differently.......you can see that she bonded with it!

and yes....the GMW she traded me is making me VERY happy.

i am sure there are a few that think i'm crazy for doing that trade.....but it felt like the right thing to do. and it made both of us happy. and Trina is an awesome person, and i am happy the '69 is with her, instead of me trying to sell it on a forum or on ebay.

and the GMW i have is REALLY REALLY good......convinced me that LEE GARVER is building my next guitar FOR SURE!
