An overstuffed freezer ruined Thanksgiving

So my mother has a deep freezer just completely overstuffed. This morning, she discovered the door wasn't sealed shut. BECAUSE SHE OVERSTUFFS IT! Everything on the door of the freezer was thawed and ruined, and everything else in back was locked together with frost and snow. She has no idea how long that door was open, but she doesn't remember going into it for at least three days, maybe Sunday was the last time she went into it. So that stupid thing has been running full-blast trying to keep cold, and the whole deal was a huge clusterpuck.

So instead of cooking all day as planned, she had us come over to help salvage everything inside and sort through what was ruined and what can be kept. Then we set up space heaters aimed inside to unlock everything from everything else, and drop them piece by piece into laundry baskets and put them out on the driveway to stay cold outside. Then we chiseled and scraped, and melted away the rest of the ice, and dried everything up. Then we were finally able to stuff everything back in.

So no thanksgiving for me. A freakin pot roast and maybe some baked potatoes.

Maybe she'll have her wits back and try to do up the turkey tomorrow. But everyone plans to do Black Friday shopping instead of camping out at her house, so WTF. Just..... WTF.

I've called a few friends, to see if I can head over and mooch off their family meals. Heh heh. But alas, none are home, they're all at their parents and grandparents' homes for their gathering.

Is Buffalo Wild Wings open today?

The memories are worth the trouble. You'll look back and laugh about this turkey day, the others w/o issues will be less memorable.

Ugh.

My day started with my roommate/landlord screaming there was a leak in the laundry room. Lower level of the TH had 2"-3" of standing water, that didn't get completely dealt with until about 4p. Campbell's Turkey soup.

I am thankful I am alive. Happy Thanksgiving.
